Hullabaloo

On Saturday K&L Attended the fourth annual Hullabaloo to raise money for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. There were silent and live auctions to raise money for these awesome and talented kids, including Ted Baker Suits, WeSC men's and women's outfits, a Shepard Fairy painting, signed guitars and surfboards, etc. On top of that Union Station was absolutely beautiful (L helped set up the event) and the free drinks and snacks were fantastic. Here's some more info:

"The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, brainchild of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and multi-instrumentalist Keith "Tree" Barry, hosts the fourth-annual Hullabaloo benefit concert at the physical intersection of all things LA, Union Station. The soiree raises cash for the school's scholarship fund, available to students with prodigious talent whose parents' wallets aren't as fortunate. It features performances by trumpet impresario Roy Hargrove, sultry Italian jazz diva Roberta Gambarini, members of the LA Philharmonic, and students and teachers from the school itself."

It was such a great time! K&L doing it for the kids

Steve You've Done It Again

This is the all new iPod Nano. What does it do? Let me tell you!

There's the Genius Feature : Whilst listening to a song click on the middle button and select the 'Genius' tab, your Nano will show you what other songs go great with the one that you're listening to. So for instance, if I was listening to 'When the Levee Breaks' by Led Zeppelin, the Genius tab may suggest 'Purple Haze' by Jimi Hendrix, 'Misty Mountain Hop', or 'Bobby McGee' by Janis Joplin.

You can flip your iPod Nano to the side and view videos on a 'wide' 2" screen; you can also browse through your music this way to view your library in a whole new way.

My favorite new feature : when you shake your new iPod Nano it will automatically shuffle to a new song in your library.

With 9 vibrant colors at only $149 for an 8GB, $199 for a 16GB, what's stopping you from heading into an apple store pronto?

Visit http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/ for more features and info!

Did we forget about fall?

Spring '09 is nothing short of amazing, but it's starting to make me sad, because it wont be in our hands for another 6 months! I came across Ms. Vivienne Westwood's Red Label....my saddness is long gone now!

Tailored suits will be a staple this season : )

Paul Smith RTW '09

There are still plenty of people who question the wisdom of a Paul Smith collection for women. The problem is that womenswear doesn't really play into his strengths, given that his hugely successful menswear line is such an expression of his own appetites and idiosyncrasies.

I love that Paul Smith has taken a VERY trendy street wear look and used it on the runway at London Fashion Week. Contrary to my lastest thoughts fringed scarfs are not dead, belt them! <3

Now we sip champagne when we thirsty.

Notorious premieres jan. 16th 2009. It was produced by Wayne Barrow, who was one of B.I.G's former managers along with Mark Pitts. Go to notorious09.com for more info.

Missoni Me Lovely

Missoni RTW Spring 2009 is up on WWD.com, and it blew my mind:

The colors, the silhouettes, the fabric choices, it makes me want to zip through winter and fall right back into spring! And I don't need to throw away my mustard cardigan or high-waist belts (that's a relief!). While you're scrolling through I highly suggest listening to The Kinks 'Sunny Afternoon' : it will put you in a fantastic mood.

All around great collection! Recognize!

Peace out lovers

Think PEACE, Act PEACE, Spread PEACE.

"I believe that as soon as people want
peace in the world they can have it.
The only trouble is they are not aware
they can get it."

John Lennon, 1969

This past Friday I visited the Yoko Ono Imagine Peace Wish Trees in Pasadena. It was not only a beautiful day but wonderful to see everyone writing their own personal wishes and tying them to the 21 trees that inhabited the courtyard at One Colorado.

Here's some more information:

The IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is a work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon.

It is dedicated to peace and bears the inscription 'IMAGINE PEACE' in 24 languages.

Its construction and installation is a collaboration between Yoko Ono, the
City of Reykjavik, Reykjavik Art Museum and Reykjavik Energy.

The work is in the form of a wishing well from which a very strong and tall tower of light emerges. The strength, intensity and brilliance of the light tower continually changes as the particles in the air fluctuate with the prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland.

Every year it will light up between October 9th (Lennon's birthday) and December 8th (the day of his death).

In addition the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER will be lit on New Year's Eve, during the first week of spring and on some rare special occasions agreed between the City and Ono.

The electricity for the light comes entirely from the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant.

Visit http://www.imaginepeace.com/news.html for more information.

This is a wonderful treat to have basically in our backyard and we encourage everyone to participate! Bring a loved one, a friend, or go solo and enjoy the beauty that is peace.
