Huset Santa Monica

Santa Monica's home store 'Huset' (which means "the house" in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian) has become a personal favorite. The items in this store, whether you're going for a new mug, a new lamp, or trying to find that perfect gift, all have a fresh and unique tone. Posted in their company bio, "We believe that great art and design are incredibly life-enhancing." Here are a few of my favorites from their website www.huset-shop.com:

Norman Copenhagen 06 Shade in Small. Designed by Simon Karkov

Sagaform Thermo Mugs, comes in a city landscape as well. Made in Sweden.

Giarimi "Feast" Champagne Glass. Made in Sweden

My ultimate favorite, the Tonfisk Newton, Designed by TanjaSipila. The sugar bowl stays upright and is coated in real gold.

Make your way to either Huset's location in Santa Monica or their website, and you will be amazed at their selection and detail to everyday items!

Oh Dior

After looking at almost every show from New York last week I needed some pep in my fashion show step. The tents were incredibly disappointing to me this season (minus Marc, he always delivers) I realize fashion is supposed to reflect the times. Due to them being "economically difficult" fashion week was a shit show. Everything from grey somber tones to animal print was shown. Marc was the only one who reflected any sort of color and fun into his line. Which were all looking for!

Enough with my ranting....After looking at Fall rtw 2009 I needed something to as i mentioned before put some pep in my fashion show step. So here it is Dior 2009 Haute Couture Show from Paris:

Thank you Mr. Galliano for making me believe in fashion again! -k

Oh Marc Jacobs! You're Making Me Blush

Marc Jacobs RTW Fall 2009 is out : fasten your seat belts and slip some Prince into your cassette tape because New York City circa 1980 is translated below!

This collection (aside from amazing haute couture K and I indulged in yesterday) has to be my favorite for Fall. The colors pop, the silhouettes are sharp and fun, and Marc's ability to make the hair and make-up the essential accessories pulled the entire look and vibe of the collection together. Marc commented to WWD, "What? Is all black going to help the economy?", and he is absolutely right!! Marc brought a fresh twist to Fall RTW 2009, and for that we are eternally grateful.
