Original Fake

I'm wearing my sweet heather grey Mickey Mouse sweatshirt today, and it reminded me to post about Original Fake: a Japanese company.

I know i'm late...

I have always been a avid follower of Burberry. But, i've never really been a fan of Burberry ready to wear, i have always admired obviously but never said "ohmygoodness I must have that". Until now. Today, as an act of boredom, i went to style.com to look at spring '09 RTW once again. Burberry Prorsum had me in complete awe (how did i forget?). Here are just a few of my favorites from the 82 piece collection:
flawless (minus the dip dyes) and hits the nail on the head for the trendy market that RTW needed to tap into. Im obsessed.

Pop-Art For Dummies!

Designer Jean-Charles De Castelbajac's Spring collection is up for our viewing pleasure (thanks Kanye West!). Most of his stuff is just a bit too banana sandwich for me to handle; it's very popiconsinyoface! kind of stuff. However...there was a dress that look familiar and I had been wanting for quite some time:
And then! Just like that! I remembered where I had seen it:

I don't think it would look -quite- as good on me, but it is nonetheless a quicky and fun dress.

Here are some more designs from Jean-Charles De Castelbajac:

The Bee's Knee : Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons, a favorite artist of mine, is Wonderland's first (of many) bee's knee.

Jeff Koons was born in York, Pennsylvania in 1955. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of ARt in 1976. His work has been exhibited internationally and is in numberous public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Versailles in Paris, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo, and many more.

One of his more noteable works and most recognizable would be his Balloon Flower which was unveiled at 7 World Trade Center in New York City. He has received numberous awards and honors, and has lectured at many universities and institutions, including the likes of Harvard, Yale, Columbia, etc.

My main focus as of now is Guilty, a Yacht designed by Koons owned by famous art collector Dakis Joannou. Koons used inspiration from a World War 1 camouflage pattern. It's as creative and unique as it is beautiful.

Mrs. Obama

On January 20th President elect Barack Obama will be inaugurated. American designers are fighting to dress Michelle Obama for the day festivities and more importantly the Ball at night. The American fashion industry hasn't had an opportunity this big since the Camelot days in 1961. For the big designers dressing Michelle may be a little more challenging than that of Jackie O. Throughout the campaign she has avoided all major names sans Narciso Rodriguez on November 4th. She supports local designers like Chicago's Maria Pinto. Up and coming designers like Thakoon and Jason Woo and cost-conscious labels Donna Ricco and J. Crew. Here are a few sketches from the big guns courtesy of wwd check em out! : )

Need these too

Ray Ban is set to relaunch its classic Clubmaster frame December 9th at the Bowery Ballroom in NY. Ray-Ban hopes the Clubmaster will fuel the same retail fire as the Wayfarer when it resurfaced in 2006. Since then, the 1.8 billion dollar brand has achieved consecutive years of double-digit growth and estimates it will have sold 16 million frames this year in over 70,000 stores worldwide.

The Clubmaster was introduced in 1986(great year) and is inspired be the popular "browline" style Malcolm X wore in the 60's. 7 new colors are joining the classic black and tortoise(uhhh hummm Christmas) frames and are retailing for $129 USD.

Launching this month, Nixon will release a collection of premium headphones including three models featuring stainless steel exteriors, durable nylon, and custom molded foam. The Master Blaster (an over-ear studio quality headphone), The Nomadic (an on-ear travel headphone) and The Wire (an in-ear headphone) were all built from the ground up after two years of research and design, with retail price points between $40-$200 USD.
